Thoughts on fashion.

I'm working today. Doing research. Looking at websites about tendencies and trends. Thinking about what i see on the streets around me (maybe not on Pulaski Street but a bit further down Williamsburg), thinking of what is missing, what could be desireable for me and others. I don't really like the word fashion. I think it's more interesting to see it in cycles. The early adapters, that everybody think are crazy because they are wearing something "new". Then someone famous puts it on, or people just get used of seeing it, and a product becomes more mainstream, more acceptable. Then everybody is wearing it, thanks to H&M, Zara, Topshop etc. And the "early adapters" go and look for something new. My point is that a new "FASHION" doesn't come out of nowhere, everything is calculated and logic. All fashioncompanies do their research in the same spots, being told by the manufacturers which colors to use etc. And if you want to go beyond that you have to be awake. (Need More Coffee)

I like basic timeless simple stuff. Like the shirts above from Adidas. They're called Unlimited Edition and it's just genious. I think: "Why didn't I come up with that concept?"

There are so much stylish people out there. Some have a lot of money and dress well because of that (also the opposite but I'm speaking about people with taste) some are really beautiful and dress ugly but it looks cool on them cos they're tall, longlegged, great skin etc...That happens often here in N.Y. Some tries too much and should just relax a little.

Also the designers, especially the young ones. Stop and think a little about your designs: Would you really like your boyfriend to wear that jacket with a strange cut and zippers all over? I don't.

I'm drawing T-shirt prints. I did that since I was a kid. My first shirt in kindergarten is with a boat and my name written under it. Then a lot of homemade band-T-shirts. Then they paid me at SIXTY to do commercial stuff that has to sell a lot. Then I started 5preview. I have to move on, concentrate and draw. I'll keep you updated.
